My civic is a 1990 JDM sir EF9 import. The car was was sold by a Tuning company in Japan called Best Position. They specialize in Honda's and Hanjo San, the owner explained to the buyer (pictured below) that the coilovers on the car were originally TRD items which are modified by an aftermarket company so they are pretty specific for track.
Engine wise its running a standard B16a engine with standard airbox and an aftermarket stainless exhaust.
Wheels are Sparco racing 15" with 195/50/15 toyo 888s for grip.
Origionally the car was running standard brakes but now has a 285 conversion running standard discs and carbotech pads.
Here are some rare JDM pictures of the car before it left Japan with its first UK owner.

Some pictures of its first track session 20/04/08:

Then it was time for some weight saving activities and some bigger brakes..

Perspex windows eventually arrived and heres the finished Product:

Then a track session with new lightweightedness on the 8)

Recent progress includes installation of a gearbox containing an ATS LSD and an aftermarket 4-1 header.
Currently I have a B18c6 (itr) bottom and and B18c6 inlet manifold and throttle body waiting to be fitted which will be combined with some wild cams and a socketed ecu running BRE...
Hope you all like
Next track session is on 11/09/08 so looking forward to that.. 8)

On the side not, when I saw the tittle "My JDM civic EF9 track car", I thought to myself. "About time some JDM ricer in the U.S. start tracking his car. When I saw that you are from Scotland, I realized "thing never change"

I had always assumed it had been carried out in japan and didnt ask the question until I saw these pictures. I am the 3rd owner in the UK so it must have been one of the previous owners.
As CW-ITR says its normally done to increase circulation and keep engine bay temperatures down which can never be a bad thing..
Overheating is certainly not too much of an issue here in Scotland
The less oriental chap shown in the pictures above is the original UK owner who runs his own car import company and bought this car on a business trip to japan after falling in love with it. All the previous UK owners have been within his circle of friends including his brother. All previous owners used this as a daily driver
Cheers for the comments folks.

With regards to feel flex etc, I cant say i noticed any difference. Im running a full cage with plenty strut braces so without that there may be a difference but I cant really see it. In regards to weight, I lost alot of other weight at the same time...
abs
electric window motors
carpets
headlining
doorcards
lower dash
So its difficult for me to say. Overall the weight saving allowed me to get alongside a friends 205 gti with Mi-16 engine whereas before He was pulling away from me. In my opinion the whole excercise was well worth it as every gram saved in effect improves your power to weight ratio. I didnt weigh the rar before I started the weight saving (wish i had now) but do intend on weighing the car soon to see what difference I have made to standard (which is about 990kg i believe) Obviously with the cage the car is not as light as it could be but thats a sacrifice Im more than happy to take..
