Hey guys. So i have a 96 EX and i was rippin around tonite when my check engine light came on. then i could only rev out to 6 instead of the usual 7 1/2-ish. when it hit 6 it sounded just like it was hitting the rev limiter. a buddy of mine thinks its an idle control sensor or something. anyone have any ideas?

 

well thats what happens when you rip around go get the code scanned first then come back.

you can also search whatever is faster for you.

it can be a number of probs before you know what code you are throwing

 

My car is doing the same thing cept i have a 94 ex and it has no cel's. I have no idea what it is.

ok went to autozone and ran the code. it came back

"VTEC SYSTEM MALFUNCTION"
1. Low oil/pressure
2. Blocked oil passage
3. Failed VCT oil control valve
