greddy fmu/emanage
sorry not sure wher to put this, but it is part of an FI kit so figured it should go here. anyone know how to tell the difference between the older greddy fmu "blue box" thats carb legal and the current emanage that isnt? from what ive been told they both say 'e manage' on them
are you talkin about emanage ultimate? it is carb legal, pretty much the same thing as the blue system just with wider maps and a few more capabilities.
The older "blue boxes" were not changeable. No inputs, no "buttons", no interface. The Blue "emanage" actually says "E-manage" on it. The E-manage ulitmate is a black box.

i gots the emanage ultimate, chrome box with a black strip that says E-manage by the way, and the reason i got it was so i could tune my turbo set up and still be emissions legal. no check engine light and you dont have to convert to obd1 as you would for hondata and such. but i guess it might be different over in cali. its no chipped ecu or standalone but its top of the line for piggy-backs in my opinion.

I'll state this again.

Don't know where you got that. They are part of the CARB legal kit, as long as it is not TAMPERED with. If you use the standard kit, and don't take off the silver tab that covers the inputs, it is still legal. As soon as you change the adjustments, it is no longer CARB legal.

got that directly from greddy. their older kits for teggy's which arent sold anymore are carb legal in cali, where the newer ones arent. the only big difference between the older/newer kits though is the emanage vs the older blue box
Straight from Greddy... Only the old 15G Civic kit is legal in CA. The other Honda/Acura kits were rejected by the CARB. They had CARB #'s pending, but got rejected.
The new(er) e-manage will have a series of switches on the front of it, for FMU type tuning. It also has a USB port for tuning 16x16 maps.

Guess no one gave a **** about the CARB status pending or not when I had my Greddy kits in Fremont, CA back in 2000 or 2002. Had passed w/ flying colors, even w/ a BOV on the visual, which would render it illegal.

Yeah, it was actually legal while it was still pending, before rejection. Not with the BOV though.
I just pull my whole setup and go stock every two years for smog. Kinda a PITA, but it only takes a weekend.

I guess my point is, i've seen SMOG sites go through less to give folks to pass. You could always drop the car so low that it can't go on the rollers.. haha.
Another reason why I won't move back there. If I do, I'm keeping my registration in MI
