Avid Racing Motor Mount Review - RSX/EP3
Avid Racing has stepped up and finally re-designed the RSX/EP3 passenger side mount!! NO MORE SAGGING AND A MORE SOLID DESIGN.
Avid makes all their mounts in Billet Aluminum with the option to go with a sleek/sleeper Black Powdercoated look. They have 3 durometer's... Street (62a), street/race (70a) and track only (90a) Since i have the whole black/silver theme going on in my engine bay, i went with the black powdercoated 70a.
First Impressions... Quality billet design, look great and priced very well. The polyurethane inserts are larger then both Hasport and Innovative, which means greater holding strength.
Here are a few pics i took of my black anodized ones before install...

Newly designed passenger side mount... Bracket bolted to chassis with a normal style mount... this style mount won't allow for either lateral or vertical movement of the engine.

Install was straight forward, fitment was excellent! Hardware is included with the kit. *One minor modification needs to be made for the DC5 chassis... power steering reservoir needs to be shifted over a little to fit the new style mount.
Pics from the install...

Power steering bracket modification (DC5 chassis only)... i took a hacksaw and cut off the lip on the right side of the bracket so i can fit it under the headlight bracket (i also painted the bracket black since it was all rusty). I then measured and drilled a hole into the frame and nut & bolted the bracket down. I also put a washer or two under the headlight bracket so when you go to tighten it, it doesn't crack since it would be uneven without it.

Its a tight fit... my PS reservoir is actually touching the mount, which isn't a problem. Make sure the reservoir isn't touching the PS pulley. I have about an 1/4" to play with.

Overall Thoughts...
Car feels solid... basically same durometer as the Innovative race mounts i had in the car and these feel more solid (larger bushings and stronger pass. mount). Vibration is slightly more since they are brand new mounts. Definitely feels like there's a motor under the hood and its not moving around at all... just the way i like it!! I took the car to the track last weekend and no signs of wheel hop or troubles shifting high rpm.
For those that are making some good HP numbers and are hitting the track more often then not, i highly recommend these mounts the 70a mounts. For the daily guys that like total comfort, stick to the 62a's.
A great tidbit i found out from Avid... You can purchase the passenger side mount separately for those that have issues with or have broken that oem style passenger mount.
Hit me up if you have any questions.

Lol you've posted the same review on a bunch of different sites, I own avid racing MM's too I installed them a few weeks ago. I know that you sell them, not trying to steer away customers but each kit has their pros and cons, you can't go wrong with either kit, innovative or avid racing.
My only problem with these mounts was my passenger side mount is sitting on a slight hump so it is halfway in the air, off of the car about a mm but still it is sitting at a slight slant, it's torqued to spec so I'm sure it's fine though did you have the same problem? Maybe I just got a bad bracket who knows.

Also installation was not "straight forward" I'm sure it's the same for any mount kit but the passenger side mount was a bitch to get in and bolted down and the rear mount was a pain in the *** to get right.
I have 60A inserts and I would recommend those, I watched the motor as someone revved it up and it didn't move at all, just stayed still as if it was off. Vibrations and noise are noticeable especially on cold startups but once warmed up idle is like stock, but through the rev range there is an off and on with the vibrations, I'm sure it's the same with any kit so don't let that steer you away, just letting you know.

True, i did post this in a bunch of sites... not everyone surfs all forums. You are 100% right, both do have their pros and cons and both are great kits overall. I do prefer the passenger side mount that Avid designed though.

Sitting on a hump meaning the cars frame where it bolted down to was not even? I don't recall that when i installed mine.

well i've installed the ESMM, Innovative mounts and now the Avid and install was the same on all... Front is the biggest pain in the ***, the rear can also be a pain, but if you do it a couple times it seems to get easier
and i didn't have any issues with either side mounts on either kits i've installed.
As long as you support the engine properly with or without using a lift, it makes install a lot easier.

Yea I agree, I don't care that you posted it everywhere, just pointing it out lol, found it on clubrsx, ephatch, and now this, don't forget superhonda.com
But yes, where it bolted down onto the frame it is uneven I will try to get a picture up. All the other fit fine. The rear was just a bitch because it wouldn't want to go down onto the subframe and it didn't want to line up with the holes for the bracket ont he engine, not much room underneath the car even with my jack stands all the way up.

I *hate* aftermarket parts that are designed for a street car, yet require modification of an OEM part (P/S res.).
Race parts I understand, but otherwise (for the street) I think it's just poor engineering or engineering to force a 'one size fits all'.
This is strictly my opinion but:

...to me that's kinda ghetto.
Otherwise it looks like a decent product. Too bad for DC5 owners, though.

If you have a better alternative, i'm all ears
