From what I understand gold leafing is extremely difficult, it requires specialty tools and materials. It has quite a steep learning curve and takes a lot of practice.
Are you planning on doing this on a honda? if so I have never seen it before and would be interested in the results.

no, i am not doing this on a honda. its for a buisness logo on a truck. from my research, the tools needed are very standard stuff nothing expensive or out of the norm. but it does take LOTS of skill and a steady hand. i just dont know how the overlay is done?

ive seen it done on a show and it looks really tricky. to do it the way you depicted on the images, you need to stick on a single sheet throughout the whole area you want leafed. once its on, you use a tool (dont remember the name) that you push and turn gently to give that circle effect. i would not try to do it myself if i were you as gold leaf is EXPENSIVE and if you mess up well you have to start over.

on a side note, it looks sick. dont know how they seal it over though.

I have done some leafing, and on a honda none the less. The examples you are showing are called "turned leafing" where you lay the leaf and then use either a special brush, or an attachment on a drill to turn the leaf to give it that look. its just like any other art form where it takes practice but its not terribly expensive...just start off with the fake leaf from hobby stores. That way you arent wasting $$ when you are practicing...here is an example of some ive done. To my knowledge, its the first leafing on a honda...but I hope its not the last!

This is Variegated Leafing

8oate, what coating are you using to lay the leaf on top? what is the name of the tool that goes on the drill to give it the swirl?

thanks, I used a leafing sealer then shot clear over it. To my knowledge, there isn't really a drill atachment. I have used a red scotch pad on a round tip
