Default Need some suggestions. I'm new at working on cars.

I have a 1995 honda accord EX with a V-tech engine. It needs a new exhaust. When i got it it had a few cosmetic things done to it and those are all still there. When i hit the gas it seems like it's holding back. My friend in his stock AWD 88 BMW just took off compared to me no problem. I know this car has some power but i have no idea how to get it out of the car. Any suggestions?

150,000 isnt too bad. i would do a full tune up, spark plugs, spark plug wires, new motor oil, and tranny fluid. see if its better. if you want more power after that go for cold air intake, catback, header, etc. and if you have the funds and time just skip everything i just told you and go straight for the h22 swap. but for sure start with the full tune up if its just a daily driver.

thanks, i am running a little low on funds but i think i can afford oil, tranny fluid, plugs and wires. It's the getting it done and where is the problem. We got a 97 accord too and it's sittin in the only garage space we have, lol. That thing really needs a tune up but it's my bro's/dad's so i'll let them deal with it.

As everyone else will hopefully suggest.

A full tuneup is a must first, then see if the problem persists.

Does it have a check engine light on?

I would start there if it does, but a tune up ( plugs n wires ), oil change, check all the fluids, and maybe fuel injection service.

the tune up wont take more then an hour. so you can just do it on the street. just make sure to recycle the oil, (I HATE PEOPLE WHO DUMP IT ILLEGALLY! ). the tune up is simple so its great for you because your new to it. just do some research on how to do it and you'll be fine.
