Having issues with installed GSR tranny with OEM ITR LSD
I recently installed new bearings in a GSR tranny except for the main and counter shaft. I followed the instructions in the FAQ's thread and everything seemed the way it should. I put the main shaft synchros and gears the way it looked in the pictures provided and they moved freely, it seemed, up and down.
All OEM parts were used and OEM MTF oil was put in.
Well, I just recently got the tranny installed and MANY issues came up.
1) The car would not idle in neutral. It would stall when I released the clutch but stay idle with the clutch down.
2) At times, I can not get into any gear because it seems to locked out of all gears until I come to a stop.
3) When I up shift to each gear, it is smooth, and when I down shift all gears are good until 3rd to 2nd. It seems to be very hard and at times, not able to get into it even at low speed.
4) At a complete stop, when I engage into a gear and release the clutch, there is a sudden thud (like the car rolls over and then goes) from the car.
5) When engaged in 1st and slowly released, there is chattering and hesitation, is that normal?
6) At times, as I am rolling at a higher speed and go into neutral and let the RPM's fall all the way down, the RPM's sit about 1200-1300 rpm's and I can not get into any gear. Why is my rpm's still revving and not at idle? Why is it locking me out of each gear?
7) When the tranny was out of the car, the main shaft would not spin freely. There would have to be extra help with the pressure plate on it and then it could rotate. Why?
There should be more but I am forgetting and all that above is quiet a handful of trouble already. If anyone could diagnose or tell me what could be wrong, I would really appreciate it. This is getting me all depressed just talking about it.
I have my original tranny still and might have to switch it back
which I dont want to do but it looks likely I will be needing too.
Thanks guys...

You have many problems.
Stop driving the car immediately and remove the trans.
In neutral or in gear with the trans out of the car, the MS should spin easily.
You could have an issue with case clearance, with synchro installation, etc...could be anything.
What it sounds like, is one of your floating gears is loaded up when in neutral, this could be why it won't idle in neutral and why it's hard to shift.
Pull it apart!!

Apparently, something has come loose inside the tranny that now it idles in neutral. It is still hard at times to up shift. It is easy to drive when I am going through the gears in normal driving. Each gear is very smooth when it is in neutral.
Could you tell me what could be the issue with the clearance? Do you think I used too tight of a shim for the LSD and causing a binding of the gear shafts?
Would you think changing out the MS and CS would help in the problem? I still have my original transmission that has perfectly fine gearshafts...
Thanks for the response guys..
