Are SOHfast.com motors are over priced to you guys?
I saw a post in Hybrid asking where people bought their motors from. SOHfast.com has most of the votes by far.
I'm trying to spend as less as possible and still go DOHC in my EG. I asked about a B18B w/ OBD1. They want $2500 + $300 for shipping! And the motor is gonna have 80K + on it.
After their reply, I started to browse their site a little more. 99% of there product was way over priced I thought.
Does anybody here have experience with them? IS it worth spending the extra $ to buy from them? I like hondamotorsonline.com prices better. And they seem to be just as legit on good product as SOHfast.com

their priced are kinda high, but from what i've heard their motors are very clean and are in great shape. if it were my money i'd buy from larry jr. though.
I bought an engine from Sohfast....not a bad transaction but not great enough to compensate for the higher prices. So it was "alright" because I never felt like I was ripped off, but since then I have resorted to sourcing my own parts......it is time consuming but alot cheaper.
B18B engines are relativly easy to find in most salvage yards, you could probably find it yourself for less. Or try Larry Jr. I hear good things about getting engines from him.

Sohfast's prices are kinda high but they do include everything you need for a swap. Throttle cables, clutch cables, hoses, belts, EVERYTHING! Every single nut and blot will be included. Also try getting a swap from import auto salvage. I tried to get a gsr swap, they had none. B16? Nope, h22? nope. They would have some "in a few weeks, maybe" Also they never returned any of my phone calls. I had to keep calling them back even after they said they would call me back in a hour
Other people have had good luck with them though so it's your choice but for a complete swap with good customer service i'd use sohfast.

sohfast is located in my city and I'd never buy from them because they're way to expensive. But their motors are hella clean and come with everything.

Their swap packages seem to have alot of parts......
For example for $3300 they offer
Del Sol VTEC (B16A3) "changeover" - includes engine, intake manifold, fuel rail w/ injectors, throttle body, throttle cable, exhaust manifold, A pipe, alternator, distributor, ECU, transmission, starter, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, axles, intermediate shaft, shift linkage, engine mounts, transmission mounts, radiator hoses, and all related sensors

this has nothing to do with motors. but when i was going to do my rear-brake conversion i corresponded with the guys at sohfast. and they were great. i told them flat out i wasn't buying anything from them and they still helped me find all the right parts and make suggestions as to what other parts i might want to look for.
If i had any money i would ABSOLUTELY pay the extra penny for GREAT customer/not-a-customer service. I don't have proof but I'm sure they'd be willing to answer a bunch of the questions that we all end up posting here during the swap process.
That's worth a premium price

i always reccomend local salvage yards for non Vtec Integra Swaps. I got mine for 1300 bux. Everything i needed + more 68k on the motor and i got to see the car it came out of

I purchased my b18c1 swap from Jerome in 2000. The whole experience was great. There were some items that were not included in the initial shipment but Jerome made certain that I recieved the items (fuel pump and 02 sensor) Next day shipment.
When I purchased my swap the swap itself was 3500.00. That was fair price in 2000. The engine had 54k miles on it and has been running strong. Customer service is a big factor in today's aftermarket and Jerome had a great handle on this concept.

you get what you pay for, maybe some of his stuff is a bit overpriced, but anytime your looking for a part, chances are taht he has one that he can send out next day to you. ive done several transactions with him and he has been more than friendly. even calling a few weeks later to see if everything was ok and if i had any problems with it.
a+ customer service

but that place for 2000 how are they quality wise?
the prices are high but so is the quality. I bought a 2000 TYpe R motor from them and the quality was sooo nice. If you got the money do it
One of my friend bought a Si Tranny from them, and when we got it, the damn thing would not go into reverse.
So $1000 for the tranny, and $800 for parts and labor and it's still not fixed.
I do not suggest them
Also, i bought a motor from Evans Honda Specialist.
tell them what all you want and they will give it, they don't give a **** to throw some things in

I have been reading up on Sohfast.com the last few minutes and also viewing the web site. The prices are the same as IAS for a GSR motor, about 4k shipped!
Just wondering for those who have been to the shop. Do they get the complete car in or just motors like osaka and HMO? I know IAS get the complete car which is why they tell you the mileage for each motor.
I see above someone else left their # with the guys at IAS and never got a call back. I did the same about 2 weeks ago for a GSR motor and never heard anything back. Called this morning and left my # to call if a low mileage GSR comes in. I'm thinking people have left #'s before and did not come through on their part when they called. I can't see "being to busy" a good excuse not to call someone who is willing to hand over 4k
I'v already decided that when Larry calls I'm calling out of work the following day, renting a van, and driving my happy a$$ 7-8 hours to get the motor and hopefully some extra $hit off the GSR

I bought my old B18B from Sohfast, motor was spotless clean and included everything I needed for the swap...Jerome is a good guy. I was going to buy my motor from IAS but neither Larry Jr or Randy never one time returned my phone calls or emails, seems like a lousy way to treat someone who is going to spend allot of $$. I finally got it from Brian Wong, #2 in my sig and am very happy with my new gsr
Never heard of SOHfast.com They sound good. Remember, wouldn't you rather pay more up front, and get a COMPLETE motor in very good condition? Or get a cheap swap, that comes with tons of **** missing, and in poor condition? I'd rather pay more and get it done rigtht the first time. When I have the money, I'm buying a B18C5 swap from IAS. I spoke with Larry Jr. a few times via email. He was quick to respond and very nice..
I have always heard great things about Larry Jr. and Import Auto Salvage.
I had that problem with IAS with them not calling me back. I have cash sitting in my hand waiting to buy a motor and they are "too busy" to return my call. Oh well it's their loss.
