just bought a crx with dohc zc
check engine light is on, what can be the problem? i have heard that with zc motor you can not pass emission. is this true? my crx is a dx model, so do you think i can drop in a stock dx ecu and run the car that way for emission?
sorry how do i go about checking for codes? i used to have a 99 teg, that was easy just plug in a code reader and it tells ya everything. obd0 i have no clue.
You pull back the carpet on the passenger side floor and you look for a blinking LED on the ECU. Depending on which ECU is installed, you may or may not have to unbolt the kick panel to see the LED (there's a small peep hole on the kick panel to observe the blinking LED whenever you get a check engine light). Count how many times the LED blinks and refer to the FAQ to determine what the problem is. Be sure to count correctly, there may be multiple codes flashing.
Also, you cannot use a DX ecu to run the DOHC ZC engine. If you do not know or understand why that is, read up on the DPFI to MPFI conversion in the FAQ.

if it is the dohc zc that i have, the only motor sensor that are on it are the map and tps. if you are running a good cat and o2 sensor, you should be able to pass if you tell them it is the 1.6l when they run emissions. i am not exactly sure though, the guy that swapped mine in will always pass me.
if worse comes to worse, you could float the axle back piece, if they dont pay attention
