I like that clutch alot too
I like that clutch alot too
nothing crazy at all. i had this clutch in my car for about 2 years BUT i only put on 20.000 km on it. 13K ish last year this year only about 7000k
clutch was gripping nice and everything seemed fine till this happend. i went to one track event last year and one this year that's when my clutch broke. but i dont beat the crap out of my car. and i'd say i got the heel/toe skills. i'm really smooth at the track and i never dumped my clutch anytime being at the track or on the street.
i have a launch control set at 3800 rpm so i never dumped my clutch at high rpm.
when my clutch broke at the track this year i was having problem with my engine so i was shifting at 6000 rpm all day. and at the track by the end of the day it was getting harder to shift. and i got back on highway and drove home too (about 600 km trip)(one way) with broken clutch. it was really hard to shift by the time i got back to my town but i didnt really notice because i didnt shift on high way .. (stayed in 5th gear all the time.) and i thought there's somethign wrong so i pulled the tranny out. and i see this !

From: Good luck to this industry, you're gonna need it.
Ask around about performance clutches. You require something with higher plate load (aka clamping force). It would benefit you to maybe get into a better disc material. ALOT of times you can do this with decent expense and still experience and nice daily driven feel.
Feel free to ask questions.

I don't wanna sound like I'm insulting your driving style but are you sure you weren't [freak]in around with this too much? Based on the 5th picture, it looks like the clutch was jumping, possibly chattering. i don't know if this clutch is suppose to have some sort of brake in procedure, biut it looks like it was hit hard and didn't get full contact. Maybe it was broken in incorrectly or mis installed or there was just too much torque to it?

That what happened with my excedy stage 1 clutch. It failed the same way urs did but I wasn't on the track when it happened. It was hard for me to shift pass 4k and it was also hard for me to downshift on the freeway. I thought it was my tranny so I changed it and the same problem. So I pulled off my tranny again and took off my clutch and the springs just fell off. I was pissed. Only two years using that clutch. I thought I was the only one till I read this. I did not give up on excedy and bought a stage 2. Oh the clutch was in my b16 mild build and I sold it and placed the clutch and flywheel in my stock gsr.

lol i know what i'm doing. i'm one of the smoothest driver at the track. i might not be fast but i got the heel/toe , rev matching skills down. i know i'm not the only one who had this problem. i'm sure it's faulty clutch. not buying the sameone again. or even exedy at all

as stated above the pressure plate and flywheel show signs of excess heat and possible chatter... i dont see blaming the clutch for that..... hate to bring this up, but was the flywheel or the plates new when the clutch was installed??
your pressure plate looked like that after 20k?
I have a friend who is an expert in this field, and he did mention that with a new (or used) clutch, that you want to sort of break it in once at the beginning by letting it slip while going up a hill, sort of shredding it just a little bit, but not for long.
that doesn't look right, the clutch in normal driving, even when revving it for a track event shouldn't do that. I'm starting to wonder if either something was wrong on installation...or if by chance you happened to just get a bad clutch??

exedy speaks for itself. thats driver/installer error. not bashing you but as stated above for another time it was not broken in properly.
got the same clutch in my b20vtec road racing 4dr and its seen worse abbuse then yours has over the last 3 months and im having no problems. im not bashing you either just trying to help.
