Default Do I HAVE to use a ring gear hoilder when reinstalling the flywheel?

I haven't been able to find one in town, and seeing how I'm probably not gonna ever need it again, I don't really wanna order one. Have any of you guys installed the flywheel without using the ring gear holder with out problems? It would be a shame to have take take apart the car again because of excessive vibrations or something like that. The car is in 88 crx with a b16a and ys1 lsd trans.

That sounds like something I should do then. What's the point of even doing this? Is it just to lock the engine in place, or do u actually need the flywheel completely stationary while you torque down the bolts?

I just used a box wrench and put one end on the flywheel bolt and the other on the dowell pin on the block to hold it while I torqued the bolts into place....
