Default Tranny Q for the Tranny Guru...

I have a civic with a D15B8. I also have a Full D16Z6. I plan on rebuilding my D16. When I got my new Car I can tell my old D16 had more to it, but it seems that my B8 tranny is faster at a lower RPM. So the Q is since mt D16 Reved higher, would my B8 tranny go faster that my Z6. Which is better for my build.

D15B8/CX trannys suck, unless you want good mileage. D16Z6/EX/Si tranny is geared much shorter and will make a world of difference for acceleration, CX tranny has theoratically higher top speed, but it will take forever and a day to get there.

so even with an engine that will rev (easier) higher the Z6 is still better. I thought that would be the case. witch is kinda unfortunately because the 3rd gear on my Z6 popped out a lot before I retired it.

Yes, some guys will actually swap in a Z6 tranny mated up to a D15B7 for the acceleration

Pop the Z6 tranny apart and replace the 3rd gear syncro. I've never popped a tranny apart yet, just never had any real reason to, but they're quite simple to work on i'm told.

Z6 tranny is better geared for acceleration than the B8, that's a fact. You may be able to go faster at the same rpm/gear with the B8, but it will take you longer to get to that speed.

My 92 cx runs like a dog, and the gears are so long on it. I had a 91 CRX Si and loved how that car performed compared to this one. I would definitely risk losing some precious mpg for an overall quicker and more enjoyable ride.

Z6 over B8 hands down.

Its not the synchro causing it to pop out of gear.

I think your right on this actually. I keep seeing "popping out of gear syncros must be bad" kind of posts, but all I can see bad syncros doing is causing grinding when shifting. I'd be more inclined to think there was a spring/detent type thing bad personally. But I haven't had a chance to take a honda tranny apart yet, I will if one ever goes bad on me.

CSB walked out, bad shift fork, bad slider, bad dog teeth on gear.

Synchro teeth are rarely worn.

well that's all good info. Once I take my class I'll be able to really figure it out. I really want to rebuild my D16z6 so we'll see how that goes.
