97 EK with D16Y7...Any Hope??? N00b here...
So I bought a 97 EK and here's a few things I've done so far ( Engine wise )...Upgraded Headers, Upgraded Spark Plugs-Wires-Pullies , Cold Air In-take, Full Greddy Cat Back System Exhaust w/ Down Pipe.
Not much but I was wondering what things I could do to get more speed out of my ride. Or if you all think it would be better for me to just purchase a new engine ( I was thinking B18b? )
You can look here to check it out http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3148540
Thanks In Advance...

I don't see much hope. You'll get more speed out of it if you gut it out, take the body kit off of it, the subs, speakers etc, and ditch the single cam and put in a real swap.

The Buddy Club kit actually looks good, so that's fine. The wheels(not too bad),subs, interior, tails are a no go for me.
As far as your question goes: The current motor will be good for MPG,not power, unless you go turbo. If turbo isn't in that SOHC's future, then a B or K should be the next thing. Good luck!

Noob question...Am I able to drop DOHC on this engine? Also if I were throw a Turbo on this engine what other parts would I need to upgrade to support the Turbo?
Thanks.
Thanks.
You can't make the engine you have in it to DOHC, you'd need to swap a DOHC motor into the car. Just buy a turbo, turn up the PSI and have some fun with it while it lasts.

But for the love of god, do some research before just buying parts, or pay a good, knowledgable shop to do it. That means you get referances and talk to the owners of cars they've worked on, not just the techs. They'll al tell you thier work is top notch, and all too many are quite the opposite. Buddies CRX ran so bad after his swap and he couldn't find anyone to tune it right because they had no clue what the original shop did, so he sold it instead of paying to have the job done all over again.
So far as the car, I like the tail lights... where'd you get them and how's the quality, or are they tint spray painted?
BTW: It's header, not headers.

Ya I know what you mean, as for the Taillights there great quality and not tint spray. But in Virgnia I cant have em, lol. ( To Dark )
Header, Thanks
Header, Thanks
It would be the best bang for your buck if you went turbo. Vitara pistons, eagle rods, engine management, fuel pump, injectors, and of course a good tune. Your car looks pretty clean.

Any who there is a dohc d16 get your facts straight.
There are both a sohc and dohc version of the ZC but from everything I've read the headbolts do NOT line up, making it impossible to swap.
Check out d-series.org if you want to keep and modify the d16y7 you have.

No one said DOHC ZCs didn't exist, they just said you can't swap a DOHC head a SOHC block.

Damnit i was trying to be a smart *** but I lost lol
anyways to make power from your civic you have to take the body kit off and the subs out or it will not make power
and you need a turbo no matter what situation unless you are a fully built b20 vtec or k20 or h22 or something but turbos make power, alot of research is involved though and its not just "oh I can throw a turbo on there", no there is a little more to it than that.
