Default muffler alignment

is the stock type r muffler suppose to be perfectly level with the bumper or does one side hang lower than the other. reason i'm asking is because, i aligned it according to the tip but the rest of the muffler seems to hang unevenly. is this normal? or will i have to finnagle with it a little more?

The only pic of a stock muffler I have on my car... It's been many years since I had one
Hope this helps.
