Default 1996 honda accord lx exhaust resonator removal

My friend's dad who works on engines said i could technically remove the resonator on my '96 accord and still be legal. My question is though, would it make the car sound any better? And if so do you think i could acheive a slight gain in power?

Leave it on... If you want your car to sound right just go buy an exhaust tip or at least some headers.. A better cat would even help out your car!!! It wouldn't give your car any power gain if ya removed it, might change the roar of it. But I'm also pretty sure if you took it out it wouldn't pass DEQ when you need it to..
