Default PSI at the gun

My gun says to use a max PSI of 30. I have my compressor set to 30PSI, but when I hold the trigger down the PSI dips a little. Should I increase the PSI a bit so when I hold the trigger it's at 30, or should I leave it like it is?

Unfortunately my regulator isn't working so I'm having to use the one on the compressor.

Well to be one hundred percent sure of what's really going on in your gun, you need that regulator at the gun. When I've sprayed, I've set it to 30 psi (or whatever) while the trigger is down. Consequently your needle will suggest much higher while the gun is not in operation. I won't talk about how I screwed up in the past, um primarily because I don't have paint on my car yet soooooo maybe when I get a nice paint job, I'll be able to look back and laugh, but yeah not yet. Heh
