Default Is this correct??

hey guys

i have the stock 15 that look like this... now i have to question, what model do these rims come with(my title says GS) and my second is, if i take a 400 grit sand paper and sand the finish off and then make it up to 1200 grit, then if i took a 1800-2000 grit sandpaper and wet-sanded the rims would i get a Chrome like finish- and then off course clear coat that??

This did come on GS and GS-R models. I had them on my 1998 GS coupe.

I can't answer your question about the sanding though.

1997 GS-R was the first year for those wheels. After that they came on GS models (upgraded LS model), and from then on have been known as "LS Mesh" wheels.

I thought you had answers to everything michael? lol j/k. To answer your question: Yes you can do what you said about sanding. Your hand polishing those wheels is what you want to do. There should be a DIY sticky in the "Wheel and Tire" section of this forum.

It will look like polished aluminum, not chrome.

And you can't put clearcoat on top of polished aluminum. It won't stick, which is the (aside from cost) reason why they weren't fully polished stock.

So what's on the face of GS-R blade wheels? Those look pretty shiny.

i thought i had all the answer alpha...lol j/k

but thats cool just keep them polished and they wont rust or fade right, could you rough sand the polished alu. with a fine fine sandpaper and then clear that , or would that kill the whole idea....

Would like to know also, but IMO I think it might be polished aluminum.

Anybody sure?
