Default My Official "Goodbye Integra Type R" Thread - Thanks for everything guys!!!!! 56K=NO

Hey guys,

Well, after almost 3 years of Type R ownership, unfortunately it had to come to an end. With my life moving in all different directions, I found myself moving to a new city, purchasing a new condo, and in turn, loosing my Fort Knox heated garage to a single outdoor space. Knowing that our cars do not take kindly to unsupervised parking, the decision was made to let my love go.

Just wanted to thank you guys for all the help over the years, and for the friendships I've made. The Type R community is a very tight knit group of enthusiasts and we are all generally out to help another owner in any way we can. Having been the sole organizer for the Ontario Type R owners meets for the past few years, I've had the pleasure of meeting some of the most humble and dedicated people I've ever met. I hope someone takes the reigns and continues to organize these meets, as it gives the opportunity for new and old Type R owners to experience the vast community this wonderful car brings.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank a few people who made my Type R ownership the pleasure it was. Doug (BabyNSX), Frank (Amused), Matt (The Shadow), Joe (Floatfisher), and all the other members who made it out to the meets; you guys all kick ***, and I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys. Doug and Frank: it was a blast chillin with you guys these past few summers ... trackdays, getting lost in the middle of nowhere in Dunnville, Hockey games, weekday pints, wouldn't give it up for the world.

Anyways, as much as this is turning into an Oscar speech ....

Thanks everyone, all the best, I'll miss my car dearly, and hope to be back one day. Here are some pics from over the years, and a pic of the Type R and her replacement.

Cheers!

Ryan

Finally, my Type R and her replacement:

Take care everyone.

Hopefully youll come back. But just to let you know A skooby will never put the same smile on your face as the R does. The brute force and the pretty whinning noise of the turbo makes you smile but its not the same. I love my STI, but its something about that R which made me come back again last yr!! Gluck and I hope someone dedicated as you will find a way back to the R comunity

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Posting all these pics from all the meets over the years was pretty hard. I loved the community more than anything!

The new owner would have been Opie, but he backed off

The new owner posts as "theIntegraMan" on ITRCA, but I'm not sure he's a HT member. I should give him a call and get him to join up!

And yes, the STI is a fun car, but it lacks the character the R had. However, I'm taking the STI to the track this Sunday, so we'll see how I feel about it than

Glad to hear about all of your personal endavors taking off. You'll have the rest of your life to get behind the wheel of another one (hopefully it's as clean). If you feel a void in your soul that the sti cant fill, take the M3 for a spin

Ryan,

As an old school member of the ITR community since 1998 I can say I’ve had the great opportunity to create many friendships along the way. Many have dissolved as people’s lives take them in different directions; however there are a few that I hope will last.

It’s always been a blast hanging with you and I look forward to sharing track time with you again and seeing if you can keep up. You know you will always have the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of an R and if I am able to head down the EXPO 9 next year… you definitely should consider it (ex ITR owners are always welcome).

As you know… I’m heading back to Canada in October and we will definitely have to share a few cold ones.

Hope all went well on the track this past Sunday!

Doug

Thanks for the kind words, Doug. We will definitely get together when you get back. Hopefully you're around long enough to come out to a track day as well! There is always the thanksgiving day at Shannonville too.

I don't know about keeping up, especially when you're on V710s, but I'll give you a run for your money We'll have to swap cars for a few laps when we get out so you can wind up the STI and stretch her legs. The car is a blast, but I'll miss the R. Glad at least someone I know still has one so I can rehash my memories of ownership.

I'm down for Expo 9 if you are.

Anyways, thanks for farewells everyone! I'll be poking around the forum still, and I'll share the knowledge I've learned where I can.

Hi Ryan,

Glad to hear that you were able to find a buyer for the R. I still wish I had mine
However life needs to move on. It was good to hang out and get to know you too.
I'm sure we will be running into each other now and again. One night when Doug
comes back we will go out for a drink. Best of luck with the STI.

Matthew
