Default CRX Seatbelt Issue

Like many CRX's out there mine doesn't retract and just dangles. Now I've heard about Honda Dealers replacing our seat belts for free if they are broken? I was just wondering if there is a diagnostic fee or anything because that's what I've heard from others. My car is a salvage title, will this affect the seatbelt warranty? Any helps cool, thanks guys.

omg search.

Your seatbelt doesn't retract because it is probably dirty from hands touching it for years. That doesn't mean it's defective and not safe, just worn out.

I have an appointment today because my seatbelt receptacle (the part where you PRESS red, for release) is damage from normal use. That may be covered, we'll see.

There is a service bulletin that says to clean the plastic the belts go through on the top of the door. It gets gummed up from dirt over the years. Use some alcohol and q-tips or cotton ***** to clean it. Should work unless the retractors are broken.
It can't hurt to try and get them replaced either, seatbelts have a lifetime warranty so they shouldn't charge you to look at them. Worst they can say is they don't cover salvaged cars, if the writer looks that up.

{That is the info from my warranty booklet which came with the car.}

The part that commonly wears out is inside the door or pillar
called the "retractor"..

It is a coiled piece of spring steel responsible for keeping tension on the belt strap
and it wears at one certain point because the belt is always extented to the same spot..
