Has anyone had any recurring problems with their rebuilt transmissions that they had installed at the dealer under warranty?
Just wondering since I'm reaching the end of my warranty period (100,000 miles)
the demographics of this place have changed greatly ever since they broke up the accord forum & as people have moved on into different cars. Many old timers and very experienced folks have left.
Your best bet might be posting this question into some place like Edmund's honda forums....

It's like Russian roulette with a car. Some of the factory transmissions will outlive the cars at 300K + miles and I had one a month ago that has had a new transmission every 30K miles.
It's really hard to say.

I'm not on the wrong place chief... Maybe my topic just doesn't interest you, in which case there's not even a need to reply.

I have a '99 Accord V-6 auto. with 108,000 miles and the transmission started shifting roughly from 1st to 2nd. The dealer tested and found the transmission was failing.
They contacted Honda Corp. who agreed to replace it with a rebuilt for 1/2 price, $1200.
The replacement has a problem with the torque converter (check engine light came on). It does not lock up in 4th gear. The dealer ordered another rebuilt from Honda, to be replaced at no charge.

feb 2005 and newer rebuilds have considerably less problems than previous ones due to redesign of case and some other parts but there are instances of failure.
