Will bad wheel bearings cause the same symptoms as a bad steering rack? I rebuilt my steering rack, and it really tightened everything up there. The problem is under heavy breaking I still get a bit of shimmy from the front end. I thought it might have been my rear disc swap, but I really think it is coming from the front.
2 things it could be since you already did the steering rack. It could be the brake rotors are warped, which is fairly common on hondas, and the second thing is bad ball joints could also cause the problem.

New rotors, and new ball joints within the last 1K miles.

good question.
additionally, did you get an alignment after doing the ball joints?
can you feel the shimmy through the steering wheel as left to right or up and down?

No pull.
Yes I got an alignment.
When I did the steering rack it just tightened up the wheel and it never fixed the shimmy really. This is why I think it must be the wheel bearing. I have lifted the front off the ground and given the wheel a shake and there is not too much play. I guess I will just replace the front wheel bearings and go from there.
