Is there any way of telling if these are REAL EK9 CTR springs and shocks: http://img.photobucket.com/alb...3.jpg I'm going to but them but just want to be sure. Also, is there a difference between the CTR's and the stock DX set? Is the CTR higher grade/quality?

CTR are stiffer. A little more sporty. Honestly you would be better off going aftermarket like Koni.

 

Ok. I can't afford aftermarket suspension and my current shocks are done. Is it still livable for normal everyday driving on bumpy edmonton construction?

DO NOT BUY skunk2 shocks. unless you get the skunk2 pro c coilovers they suck. i've had the skunk2 pro s series coilovers and i wish i never bought them.

CTR coilovers are slightly stiffer but for a tiny bit more extra $$$ try to get actual adjustable coilovers, remember spend the money, spend it once.

 

id just save your money if you want good suspension ive had alot of different kinds now i got tein HA's love em.

Probably...the CTR has stiffer springs and different damping. So obviously, the part numbers are different. They're different parts. That doesn't mean they won't bolt onto other 96-00 civics, though.

Example: The D16Z6 and D16Y8 transmissions have different part #s. But they are 100% interchangeable.

Maybe what you were trying to tell him is that you can tell if they're CTR parts if the numbers match up to a CTR. But I think that the OP took it as you were telling him that they are not interchangeable.

What year is your civic, OP?

The car will ride noticeably rougher than the stock DX. They're OEM springs...but the roads in Japan are a lot nicer than the roads in North America...especially Canada. You have bigfoot and big trucks and snow and salt making craters.

Think about the ride you get with a stock ITR...it should be similar. I wanted a set of CTR springs/shocks for my EM1. I don't like rough rides either.

It should ride fine. It's going to be softer than most aftermarket setups anyway.

Stock CTR **** = quality.

Cheap coilovers = garbage.

My Civics a 99. Yeah it's more so the insane construction projects that leave the roads probably more horrible than you Americans have ever had to deal with

With that being said I want soft suspension because as I said earlier there is very few roads where I can hug a corner without hitting a huge raised patch of tar filling a crack about 6" deep so I am not too concerned about sporty. I will have to choose between the CTR's or the stock DX. Thanks guys!
