Is there a way to tell if a motor has been rag on?

Default Is there a way to tell if a motor has been rag on?

I got my motor from a friend,sadly that motor has had 2 previous owners,,it has great compression,no smoke,or leaks,so is there a way to tell if that motor was driven hard?

No, not if it's in good cond.

I beat on my motor sometimes, and it has full compression, no leaks, no smokes, etc. It's in great cond. So realistically, no

No not really, but if its got good compression and isn't smoking or knocking i wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah there is no way to tell, for sure.

When I got my frist B16, I took the valve cover off and everything underneath was nearly black with scorched oil. I thought if it would even run, it would run like ****. Not only did it run well, six years later it still ran strong and didn't consume oil.
