Default Suspension problem

Hey guys, Lowered on skunk2 springs and stock shocks. Just noticed today that when rolling, it feels as if im going over a bump on my right front wheel area, or as if theres a stick on top of my tire and I keep running it over. Its not the wheels/tires because Ive changed out to a different set. Could it be that one of my shocks went bad and its throwing my car off balance? One more idea is maybe because I havent had an allignment in over 5k miles since the allignment has been off? I know, Im due for some new shocks and an allignment but im just wondering if its something else, possibly more serious that i may need to take care of first. Thanks for any help guys

Well for one, you're on stock shocks with springs. Bad choice BTW. Stock shocks weren't made to be lowered. Another point, you lowered your car and didn't get an alignment. Your car is out of whack so to say. You need correct shocks/springs to lower your car and you need an alignment every time you change your lowered height. you should get at least real struts/springs as a blown shock can cause premature tire wear. The tire will begin to cup and you might find yourself spending money on new tires a lot. The reason i think your shock(s) may be blown in the first place is because you most likely have generic spring rate coil over sleeves on a good shock. What happens is the spring rates aren't set out for your car properly and cause most of the abuse to be given to the shocks rather then the spring and shock acting together.

lesson learned, if you're going to do something don't half *** it do it all the way the first time.

Oh yeah to answer this question.. it's yes. Your car is probably on 3 good shocks (for now) and it's trying to balance itself and that is why you are getting the constant bump feeling.

If you're running the OEM stock shocks from 2002, then I'd say replace your shocks ASAP (as suggested) and then see what happens.

Also, I'd consider getting some different springs, too.

Also take a look at your suspension components when you're down there to make sure everything is still ok.

Lowering was done before I bought the car by the previous owner. Ive driven it for 9k miles, or 80 miles a day. Been saving up for some koni's, but just havent gotten around to it. I have 2 sets of springs, H&R sports, and The skunk2's its currently on. Should I switch back to the H&R when I get new shocks? Or should i just shell out the cash for coilovers? Looking at some Megan and they are fairly priced around 850.

honestly i'd shell out for shocks that come with coilovers because IMO they both were tested and are rated to work with each other instead of the mix and match people do.

Please don't get Megan coilovers.

I'd honestly put the H&R's on the car with a set of Tokico shocks (any Tokico except the Blues).

Or, sell everything you have and pick up the Mugen SS kit.

I agree, They do ride like ****, which is the reason im just going to buy a full set of coilovers and sell my 2 sets of springs. D2, Megan, Tein or Progress are all fairly priced. Im hoping to spend around 900 and get a nice, reliable, DD worthy set.

im in the same boat with you as we speak. megans seemed to be priced teh best. and ive personally owned a set by the company before on my 240sx. and i really liked them. great coilover for the money
ive owned some tein basics before and i really liked them as well, but i wouldnt pay more than 850$ for a set of them, i cant find them for under a grand for our cars.
im narrowed down to some d2's or the megans, ill most liekly be getting the megans, with the camber plates. i had them before and liked them, cant imagine myself not liking them again

i would like to hear some opinions on some REASONABLY priced coilovers for our cars though. i just dont have the funds to put down 1200-1500 on coilovers at the moment.

I hear you on that, Coils for our cars are a lot more expensive than most. You thought about progress? They go for around 900, and I hear only good things about them. Im leaning towards them. Homelessem2 has them and loves them, as well as a few other guys on ephatch.

Yeah, no such thing in the EP3/RSX world. Any fully-adjustable coilover under $1000 is crap for these cars, period.

In the sense of racing, tracking the cars sure they are. But If you drive 50-80 miles a day, and just want a nice stance, and not run on blown shocks.. wouldn't they be fine? I think so

yea, i dont even have time in life to go to the track anymore, i just want my car to have a nice daily dumped stance and not bottom out on every slight bump in the road.

ive heard some good things about the ksports. you just have to get the correct spring rate for the application you're trying to reach. if they last 2 years and i have to buy a new set then that would be alright with me at this point. im trying to get started in life, move across the country etc... once i get settled in a new city and a job in my field i think i would be upgrading regardless.
