Default tire reccomendations?

im going onto my 3rd set.

first was oem's, which i loved.
second are some sumitomo htr-something or others... that are ****. the sidewall is like butter. makes the car feel and handle like poo.

can anyone reccomend a full set, around $500, that will do the car justice? alot of what i see on tirerack in that price range has negative reviews about soft sidewalls...

(i know you'll say spend more money, but hey, most of us were students at one point or another)

500 you are barely getting something...

sumitomo HTR z3 would be your best bet, they are rated as re050(ap2 oem) tire

http://www.tires.com is where I get all mine. Free shipping and good prices.

Check out Falken azenis 115 or 615s. Should be able to pick them up for close to $500 or a little more. Also, Falken 452's are a pretty decent tire.

If you can get advan's from the back of a truck, I'd do it, haha.

If you can save up a little more. I'd highly suggest the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Tire rack rates them higher than the Bridgestone RE-01R and the Advan Neova AD07. I just got mine on a month ago and there isn't anything I can say bad about them at this point. They have tons of grip. Or you could also try the Hankook Ventus RS-2, I had those and they were a pretty good tire, comparable to the Falken RT-615.

Does anyone deal them outside of the internet? I've got my last few sets of tires through either tire rack or discount tire (meaning they installed them) and really don't want to go through the hassle of ordering tires and bringing them to a shop.

And what size RT-615's is everyone running? I was looking at those but didn't want to go shorter sidewall.

Ok. I was just curious because I had never heard of them outside of the forums. I'll have to look around. Thanks.

I'd say get the federals or hankook. If you get the Federals from the internet you can always have them drop shipped to a tire shop, that way you won't have to lug em there.

going from the stock reo50's to azenis 615 the car feels like it slides around more. the traction control goes off a lot easier. i went with a 255 rear and 225 front and i felt better off on the reo50's...

next is definitely going to be reo1r or direzza z1 star spec.

+1. RE050's are mediocre tires.

Only bridgestones I can see doing better than Azenis are the RE01R's.

Am I the only one that still runs and likes the BFG g-Force KDW2?

They'll cost about $600 for a set of 4 though.

i think i'll give the federal's a try. they advertise their stiff sidewalls, so sounds promising.

anyone know where to get stock ap2 sizes... i guess either the ss, sr, or rsr...
