Build advice needed....
My local mechanic had a 89 civic si hatch that someone declined repairs on. Knowing I love Hondas, he called me and I picked it up.
At this moment, I have zero need for another car, but since my oldest daughter will be of driving age in about 4-5 years, I figure I could use it for that.
It wil be more of a father/daughter build over the years.
When I got the car, it had no brakes, needed interior tlc and smokes like no other.
She and I replaced the brake master cylinder on Labor day, and she really enjoyed getting her hands dirty. She's been driving the car around the yard and neighborhood (we live waaaaay out in the sticks). The tranny is fine, no grinds, the car does'nt pull to either side, but it smokes....bad. It cranks everytime, rough idle, but no check engine lights or nothing. No electrical issues, and everything works like it should....just a shotty engine.
So, she cleaned the inside and it's actually a decent little car. Bone stock, which is why it was so appealing.
Now my current dillema is this:
What to do next?
It has a tad over 192,000 miles. I will be swapping the engine out when this one dies, so no engine maintenence is required. I was thinking about doing all the bushings, brakes and suspension. Right now it is in stock 4 X 4 mode.
An alarm is one of the next things to happen. Body, paint, and wheels are last. So if you were in my shoes...what would you do next?
(Keep in mind, I have a little over 4 years to make this thing roadworthy)

I would help her clean it up really nice, teach her some basic maintenence stuff, help her pick out a decent system in it, and make sure she learns how to drive it right, not WOT through each gear till she rear ends the lifted pick up infront of her. lol
We will be replaing everything from the bushings, brakes, and motor swap in it. When we get done, she'll know how everything works, how to fix it if it dies, and how to swap it out.
I just need guidance in what order to go in....

It's the 4x4 wagon.
Where I live no alarm is going to stop a car thief, really nothing might if the thief wants it that badly. You should really consider wiring up some kill switches.
There is a how to on here somewhere.
I have two in mine, and recently it paid off.
I think any girl would like a nice stereo
