Default purchasing an 08 si???

hi guys

im about to buy an 08 si...not to mention that the 09s dont look so appealing to me...

anyways, i know the 3rd gear has been such a pain for a long time for the si owners...
i remember i read an article saying that honda changed to JDM transmission....
i thought it was fixed but, i started hearing bunch of my buddies saying that they still DO have problems like that...

I know honda has released TSB for cars which it might have problems...through vin number... DOES THIS MEAN THAT BUYING A CAR OUT OF THE TSB VIN NUMBER RANGE WON'T HAVE THE GEAR POPPING OUT PROBLEMS AND ETC??
PLZ HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.... IM SURE YOU GUYS COULD HELP ME TONS..

Even if you are out of the vin range, your car may occasionally experience slight problems with the tranny. I say this because my '08 Si falls out of the vin range and I still occasionally get the 3rd gear grind/rejection. But, let me say that my problem is nothing compared to what '06 + '07 Civic owners have gone through. If you are buying a new '08, chances are you'll be fine.

Yeah...you're right.

BUT...in my defense, that is the major reason I think the 8th gen civic mid model design is hideous. Because it looks like an Accord or the EP3.

Yeah...another thing sort of borrowed from the Accord.

I've got an 08 Si and my trani is fine.Granted that my car only has 1,500 miles, but when I first got it I had problems shifting fast from 1st to 2nd gear.It was just a timing the gear issue because it hasn't happened again.

08's have the 3rd gear problem fixed. Only the really early release dates of the 08's still had it, but you should be fine. I have an 08 I purchased in February and 3rd gear is fine.

Yup. For the 08's its the first 2400 units or so made that fall under the 3rd gear TSB.
