Default 99-00 Civic's with aftermarket head unit

Ok so I'm looking around for a aftermarket head unit to replace my stock Si cd player. My question is ( I searched, guess I was using the wrong string of words maybe?) can I use the stock pocket under the cd player or do I have to buy a filler kit?

I am referring to the lower part under the cd player in this picture?

(not mine)

Yeah I seen those sosche (sp?) kits. They looked like complete crap which is why I was wondering if I could stay stock.

yes you can keep the stock pocket, just have to scew it in is all. the stock pocket looks SO much nicer then the "kits" with the little pocket.

keep the stock one, mine actually stays in tight but if i need to pull it out for some odd reason to get behind the head unit it comes out nicely...

You could buy a 96-98 cup holder and move the cd player down there and get a dual din delete. Just another option. Looks clean imo

All the ones I have seen look like crap.

I prefer the cd player in optimal position where I'm not moving my eyes all the way down off the road. I also don't like the double din deletes. They just look pointless in my opinion.
