Kojack_0's DIY: 92-95 Civic Seats on 88-89 CRX.
To start off, i would say this is my first DIY. Ive searched this type of seat swap [92-95 Civic seats on 88-89 CRX] and all ive found was Integra seats on a 88-89 Civic hatch. 88-89 Civic seat pan and rails are slightly different from 88-89 CRXs but it doesnt mean they wont bolt up. I started and finished the drivers side just to see how it work out and it came out better than what i expected. Im doing the DIY for the passenger side, which is also the same as the drivers side.
**WARNING: DO THE SEAT SWAP AT YOUR OWN RISK**
If you break anything during the process its not my fault.
Tools i used:
10mm socket.
12mm socket.
14mm socket.
19mm socket.
Pliers.
Scissors/Cutting tool.
Zip ties.
My passenger seat:

Girlfriend holding the seat up:

95 Civic EX seat:

Step 1:
Remove the CRX seats from your car.
Step 2:
Remove the CRX seat rails from the seat pan [12mm]:

make sure you keep that stiff wire intact, cause you need it to move the seat forward/backwards:

seat rails off:

Step 3:
Remove the backrest from the bottom seat [screw, 14mm, 19mm]:

Step 4:
Now that the backrest is off, you need to remove the seat pan, theres hooks that you need to take off using pliers:

its all around the seat pan:

CRX seat pan off:

do the same with the Civic seat pan:

Seat pan comparison:

Step 5:
Zip tie the CRX seat pan to the Civic foam and seat cover:

**make sure theyre tight and snug, so it doesnt sag when you sit on it.
Step 6 [optional]:
if you havent already taken the original Civic seat rails off, this is how i did it [12mm, 10mm]:

Step 7:
Follow Step 3 in reverse, basically just putting it back together. I bolted up the 19mm bolt first, i just found it easier. Civic seat with CRX seat pan:

Step 8:
Bolt up the CRX seat rails back:

Step 9:
Bolt the seat back in the car.
Step 10:
Have a drink, adjust the seat, take for a ride.
Heres how they look in my car:

It also might be just me but it feels that it sits higher than the stock seats, but for me it feels better than before and also looks better than the half torn driver seats. Took me about an hour to finish.
If you have any question, just ask me.

*book marks page* WOW this makes me wanna go to u pull it and get a pair of beater seats from an 88-89 hatch and swap the seat pans out on my seats... i have front seats from a 98 prelude, and i LOVE them... so comfy. beats drilling holes in the floor fo sho!!!
great DIY thread, thanks!!!
great DIY thread, thanks!!!
yep. i thought it would be hard to do but it really wasnt that time consuming. id rather use the stock seat pan than welding/drilling holes/custom fabricate new seat rails.
but thanks, let me know how it turns out and if you got any question let me know.

Looks like the swap went well for you, thats good.
Personally, i don't like EG and EK seats, i find them uncomfortable. The 88-91 EF are better IMO.
Since you don't come by them as often as good ef seats are harder to find, for the trouble, i would source out 94+ Integra seats....much much better.
I got a set of 98 Integra GSR seats mint for lik a $100 and put them in my EK, what an upgrade, difference was night and day! so much better support and lumbar to boot!

true true. well ive always enjoyed a good pair of eg seats. probably because im used to them. my mom has a 4dr eg, i owned a 4dr eg myself, and i got the set of seats for free and they were mint, probably 98% fresh. haha.
integra seats do look better and rare for certain models [ex: gsr leather seats] but its also pretty hard to find a pair of eg and crx seats in good condition [no tears, color not faded, no cigarette burns, etc]. if you look at my seat pans, i was surprised that my crx pans are rust free and looks way cleaner than the eg ones.
but hey! to each his own i guess.
