High RPM Grind on light throttle- What Causes It, How to fix it?

Working up a 90CRX HF.
I get first gear grind in the higher RPM range, especially when feathering (being light on) the throttle. Can start as early as 2500 rpm if going to light, but push the throttle down more and it goes away. I also have it in second gear, same way.
This poor original trans has 136k on it, but had a bad axle seal (which has been replaced), and I flushed it twice wit Honda MTF (first time = it leaks out via the axle seal in a day and a half). I haven't checked the level yet but I don't think it's leaked out anymore, it was fairly obvious before, and I had the Axle Seal replaced at Honda, which said the previous = installed wrong and mangled.
Probably nothing we can do to help this transmission, right? Already running Honda MTF.
Also, when cold, when the clutch is out (not pressing the pedal down, and not in gear), I get a 'soft' grinding sound. It's noisy though, so soft isn't the best word to describe it. Throw out bearing I think?
Input welcome.

I do double clutch (RPM match before shifting, right?). If you drive the car fairly normally/easy, there is no real problem.
How hard are syncros to replace?

i meant like
ex 4th to 5th compress the clutch **** to neutral, depress the clutch..... compress again and shift into 5th.
Syncros themselves arent hard to fix once you actually acess them. Tranny's also arent cheap to have fixed at shops. I'd live with it until you find another used d series tranny.

There is a pretty nice walkthrough, albeit not line by line, I think

Umm, double clutching is for down shifting. And that's not how you do it.
Way I was taught: Say you are in third, you would depress clutch put stick in neutral and release clutch, then blip the throttle so that the engine speed is closer to tranny speed, last depress clutch and shift into second and release clutch.
But that doesn't really solve your problem anyway.
I think it sounds like a little more than a syncro IMO.

anyone on here that I can pay to re-build my transmission., or know of a place that I can go to, like a shop.
I know there is someone on here they call the Guru or something
Oh sorry, I did not mean to jack the thread

It's okay, I might be up to sending my trans to a HT Independent too...
... you can double clutch when ever you want to. Not just on down shifts. If you dont beleive me i'll take a vid of my accord grind the f out of 5th. Then double clutch and have it go in smooth. It allow the syncros to well... reset.
You really dont need to double clutch on down shifts unless its an old *** car. Rev matching should take care of any problems on down shifts.

Double clutching for an upshift is almost completely useless. When you upshift, the synchros are already slowing down to match speeds. single clutch is plenty. Maybe if your clutch is f'd up the double clutching would give it more time to slow down and make it eaisier to shift. But that has nothing to do with the syncros. IMO
