My girl may be driving my 90 CRX HF as a daily driver to work and back.
I recently got the car, and the front right coil spring is broken. So I need new suspension in the front, I plan on springs and struts.
She's a big fan of OEM (OEM springs and KYB GR2's?), but part of the 'safety' of this car is in it's ability to avoid an accident. I was thinking like eibach prosprings and Koni yellows (worked well on my MK1 MR2). What's good for CRX's? What's cost effective, and feels good for DD, etc? No autoX and not tooth jarring, please. The rears look like stock and recently replaced.
Input welcome!
*EDIT*
I think I want to do an overhaul. of at least the front for now (if not all 4 corners)
So Springs/Shocks, and Control Arms, what else? Any place have complete kits? This is for a DD, and needs to be cushy enough yet handle well enough to avoid collisions.

I'd leave the stock spring and use a Tokico. If you lower it girls have a tendency not to miss potholes and other objects in the road. Being lowered will make the risk of putting a a-arm into the shock tower. Especially if it is just a DD. Just my opinion.

Stock spring is BROKEN on one side... go to yard and get 2 stock springs? Are civic stock springs the same as CRX? What about hatches (not many CRX's at the yard lately).
Tokico blues? I thought they had a high failure rate?
Thanks sweeper for the hookup on climate control faces.

i agree with toad but instead of just leaving the old shocks on i would just find a new set of oem springs cause being as old as they are im more then sure there ready to be changed out.and tokico blue will give u a nice ride

L0l. I <3 CRX Toad and Tyson. Two totally different price points though, heh.
shocks are more important than springs.
i have the same illuminas i used with my race springs and prokits that i am currently using with OEM springs. and i like it. my handling is great for a street car.
i never bottomed out with prokits, but i want the extra height and total comfort for my current crx so thats why i use OEM. i have upgraded my swaybars to improve handling.
its up to you. but i really recommend illuminas and start from there.

Do Illuminas fit inside the OEM housing?
I think I'll go pull some springs from a donor.

I am used to strut 'inserts'. You take out the gas tube (say the original one) and put in like a Koni Yellow, for example. You reuse the original housing (strut housing). Of course you have to decompress the spring/disassemble the the hat (strut top, etc.
Honda = all built in/have to replace the whole biggin?

yeah, honda is double wishbone. shock and knuckle are independent.
springs are "coiled over" the shock still. so you need a spring compressor to remove the spring from the shock (stock front spring only).

Are KYB-GSR2 (I think that's what they are called) 'stock' replacements?
