Possibly the vavles are shot get the info on what happened exactly on how it died.
really even if the head is gone 700 for a turbo hatch well, kinda does the math on it's own.
700 seems too low personaly can you inspect the car?

i gotta drive 2 hours to look at it. i mean it sounds like a hella deal but im in desprate need of a everyday driver cause i have a child on the way. i have a really clean 91 hatch. i have a kid wating with money in his hand to buy it. i have to call the kid today and see whats really up with the car. i mean he said it dont have rust. 700 for a si hatch shell aint bad. he said it needs fender and has a couple little dents. and t3/t4 turbo kit. and he cant send me pics. idk should i still? can bent valves mess up pistons. its turbo and prolly been beat on hard so rings are prolly shot.
wouldnt have more to do with how fast the engine was rotating when the belt broke?
If its the stock d series there is some hope. Mine broke at stop light or somewhere leading up to it (it was really early in the morning
) and that was hmmm 30k miles ago still running strong. Thats even after i was an idiot and tried to start it before i heard the "whur" and realized the belt broke.
Can you compression test it? That would give you the answer right then and there.

if you are looking for a reliable daily i would not want some kids turbo project. it probably beat to **** IMO. i dont know though. how much time do you have before the kid comes. if alot just buy it and part it out and make money that what i would do
depending on the turbo kit and its condition you could possibly make the money to just buy a new motor and drop it in...best bet for daily with a kid, and your most likely going to have some serious damage with that motor, pistons, valves etc...

Yea I think you should buy it, 700.00, plus 300.00 for a new d15,
1000.00 for a kick *** mpg car, you'll need it with a kid on the way.
sell the old motor for t least 200.00 or part it out. I was in the same situation and did that, except no kid, college. Car had no tires or motor but I made it a reliable daily with under 1000.00.

my hatch is really good shape and really good shape i just dont want to roll around with a stage 3 clutch and really bouncy suspension. my car is not fit for a child right now, i mean i can get all stock stuff for it really cheap right now. think i should do that or let it go for 1500. sorry admins if i aint suppose to ask questions like this.

If you have an O K car already. You can just fix it, 700.00 is more than enough to get you a good performance suspension that is safe and a good clutch.
And a booster seat

anyway to setup dropzones to ride smooth lol. i just wont feel safe. i think ill put the all stock back on. i like the racing booster seats forsale on here. only 500$
the rearco ones i think?
well, i'm glad you mentioned "booster" seat, which is different than a car seat. you will need the car seat first (rear facing) until you kid is old enough and big enough to sit in a forward facing car seat and again when the kid is old enough and big enough then you can transition to a booster seat. not 100% but i think the recaro can function as a forward facing and a booster seat, i have no idea if it will work as a rear facing seat
