Got good news for those misshift days and bending valves and Waranty
Well finishing up project I went into acura today and was talking to the guys behind the counter (they know me by first name becasuse I go in there so much) any way there was a tech in there ordering a new RSX head becasue some guy bent like 80% of the valves and bent the guides. Any way I asked him what the waranty on that is I mean do you the driver have to pay for that or are you covered the manager told me you get one free be and I said what. He explaind that the new RSX trannys 2nd gear has 3 syncros as oposed to the B series motors that have ony 2 witch make is easier to put it in to 2nd and causing a misshift so I guess if you blow her up than you get one break
just thaught you all wouls like to know
this was at Acura of Riverside CA

Whether or not you get a "break" is TOTALLY up to the dealership. If they even slightly think you raced it, your outta luck.
They read the memory on the ECU and see what the fatal RPM was, and then determine from that info if it was being driven "HARD" or not.

The Punk is correct.. if u get a break it's up to the dealership.. so hopefully there not a bunch of Awholes
Kind of curious... How do you know you have bent valves... does the car totally not work? What are the symptoms?
Now, about this issue of the dealerships not covering it if you were 'driving hard' by way of monitoring the ECU... if they don't like you driving hard, then why is the redline for folking high !!?? The car was meant to be driven.... hard or soft and if it can't last... then they should fix it free of charge ! Damn money hungry corps !

My thoughts exactly. And in the commercail for the RSX type S it says " introducing the all new high revving RSX type S " .So after this commercail they expect people to " NOT" drive thier cars hard? Idiots I guess.
i say if you spent 25,000 dollars on a car and its warrantied acura should cover it, but if the problem persists, like it happening more than once or twice than that is your fault.
ej. who shifted from 3rd to 2nd at redline and later found out he bent 12 valves and blew the tranny. acura covered it but they said that was a one time thing

Actually if the same problem keeps occuring and you keep taking it back to acura and it happens more then 3 times you can enforce the lemon law and the dealership has to give you a new car.
Is that a state or federal law? Does it really ever get enforced? I bet there are a shitload of legal loopholes for dealers to get out of just about anything... going to a dealership is like getting donkey punched

I've never understood why any of the Honda/Acura dealerships decide not to warranty mis-shifts and other stupid things car owners do. If the service tech or manager writes up the service order as a warranty repair then Honda of America reimburses them the cost of the labor and parts anyway. It's not like the cost to fix the problem comes out the dealerships pockets. All they have to do is make sure that they can explain that the problem was due to mechanical failure and not driver error. I saw that happen a few times at the dealership I used to work at.
man i just got my type s and you guys are scaring me **** i hope i never shift into second from third, i'm a newbie at stick so won't be driving it hard for a while but now i'm scared to!
Acura of Riverside? geez i thot they were jerks~ they said my warranty cant cover for the hole in my radiator.... but they can cover for people's mistakes... how pathetic...
I just blew my motor up at the drag strip today...misshifted from 3rd to 2nd at about 8k rpm...we pushed it out the strip and about a mile down the road...so were just gonna say it was a normal misshift, hopefully I dont get fucked in the rear end (which I probably will anyway)

guys, some ppl don't get internet sarcasm. Be easy on the noobs.
You serious? That sucks, how are you going to plead? The ECU is just going to show driver error.
Good luck with your car.

me and my friends pushed my car out of the strip and about a mile down the road...were just gonna say we were all comin from a friends driving normally(the redline on the S is 7900 after all) and I shifted into 4th next thing I know is the motor died. To tell you the truth I really cant remember misshifting into 2nd, I just remember pushing in on the clutch pulling back to 4th and the next thing I know the tach spins past 9k and the motor just dies.
Supposedly the S2k has the same problem, and a guy misshifted his and it was fixed under warrenty, so hopefully my Acura dealer does the same. If not im gonna have to get rid of car, because theres no way im going to be able to afford a new motor.

Talked to the dealer today... my ECU's fatal last note was at 9191rpm@69mph... they are working on it now and at least 2 pistons are blown. However he said they will be covering it, but it will be a one-time thing (just like I read on here and CRSX)...he said at the least I will be getting a brand new motor.

It's your choice to drive your car aggressively, and your responsibility for the consequences. I should know, I just paid almost $300 for a master cylinder
