Anyone with 320mm wheel that had issues on the track?
Hi guys. I have a DC2, and I am looking to replace my steering wheel. Does anyone have experience with both 350mm and 320mm wheels? On the track, can smaller steering wheel cause any issues? I searched through old posts and someone said something like, in wet, smaller steering wheel will feel lighter in a ps car.. which doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone with experience give me some pointers on the good and bad of 350mm vs 320mm?
Thanks
Thanks
I've had both, and there won't be any issues using one over the other. Just personal preference. A 320mm wheel will require less rotation of the steering wheel to give a desired turning of the front wheels. Some people find it twitchy, but I find it to be fine. The whole thing comes down to personal preference, and neither have any particular pros or cons.
Thanks for sharing.
Are there any tracks that you find smaller steering wheel made it harder to get the turns right? for example, continueous s's.
will that 30mm difference make precision much of an issue?

If anything, the smaller wheel feels more precise, but also requires more focus. The only time I felt like I needed any kind of additional steering input was in some very tight turns, and I'd want an even smaller wheel/quicker rack.
I agree with Stinkycheez. Although I cannot speak for the honda guys (yet) track wise, I run a 280mm Team Momo in my turbo track miata. Many people find it twitchy or even dagereous, I love it. It takes much less effort and allows me to turn faster. I think you just need decent coordination for it.
Most turns can be taken without turning the steering wheel more than 90 degrees (1/4 of a full turn). In fact, after getting into my stock miata, it feels like Im driving a truck. The steering wheel is huge (360mm stick I estimate) and it takes much more turning radious to get the damn car to turn. Before you invest your cash, try out someones car with a smaller wheel so you know what you are getting yourself into. But there is a reason many autocross rules restrict smaller wheels
