cluster face swap, possible?

cluster face swap, possible?
I have a 90 dx civic and as you know my cluster has no rpm's. I got a 89 crx si cluster laying around. Instead of swapping pins anybody know if i can switch faces and just wire up the rpm gauge?

just switch the appropriate pins around and then plug your 90 cluster plugs into the 89 cluster
