Default H22 oil pump prime

How long should it take for a oil pump to prime, I have heard seconds and I heard minutes. What are some of your experiences?

Is this the third thread you've created regarding this? Post in one of the other two. Also remember that there won't be a lot of people posting this weekend. You'll get the responses in your other two threads tomorrow for sure.

At a complet engine overhaul/build, I always turn the engine upside down on the stand and pour oil in the oil pick up while rotating the crank in operation direction (H22 = counter clock wise)
The oil will be suspended so it will be "primed" and suck up oil right away.

At oil changes/removing oil pan, there will always be oil in the strainer pick up...

If you remove the strainer/pick up though, I would advise to unplug the dizzy plugs and crank it for a bit before trying to start up....

keep an close eye on the oil pressure light in the dash.
