whats a good site to get some decent HIDs that are not over priced?

 

I got mine (6000k low beams, and 3000k fogs) from mod-express.com. I'm overall very pleased with the quality of the lights, ballasts, harnesses, etc. The shipping was free and fast (priority mail) and if you type in Hondatech into the coupon code thing, then you get a pretty good discount. My low beam relay harness did happen to have a problem with it, but I had the problem fixed very quickly, without incident. They responded to my emails very quickly and handled the whole thing very professionally.

 

is urs a digital ballasts? they took 70 buck off the price cuz of the code that a great deall

 

wat kind of brand hid are good?

 

what's the size of the bulbs for the 06 civic si coupe again? i know i red this with other topics already but can't find the topic... please give me the exact size and code for the white color bulbs when on.. and the size too thanks...

 

The low beams are 9006 and the high beams are 9005. I got the 9006 in 6000k, and that was listed as crystal white. My lights sort of have a blue tint to them, but I don't mind and they provide excellent visibilty.

I am not positive. I don't really know the difference. I think, because they aren't listed as digital, that they aren't though.

 

and which is whiter 4300K or 6000K? what's the difference between the color? and when it says low beam bulbs does it literally means it's only low and doesn't have the capability of high beam? not like the oem where you could use the high and low beam? or does it mean you will need to buy 2 set the low and the high beams? that would be how much? lol

Don't apologize for that. I think 4300k is pretty much the same color as a stock halogen, it would just be much brighter. I wanted a pretty much true white when I got my 6000k's and I am pretty satisfied. From in the car, they look white, but from outside at some angles, they have a bluish tint. I'm sure exact colors differ slightly between brands too.

In our cars, and many Hondas, the low beam bulb and high beam bulb are separate bulbs. When you turn your headlights on, your low beams are on. When you pull the light stalk/high beam switch, your high beams come on, and your low beams stay on. In some vehicles (many trucks and suvs), there are dual stage lights, where the low beam/high beam duties are shared by a single bulb. When you hit the switch in those cars, the single bulb just gets brighter.

If you wanted your high beams to be HID, you'd have to purchase another set of HIDs in 9005. However, I don't recommend it, because HID low beams + halogen high beams is plenty bright enough.

 

thanks fpr the quick info.. how ever still got some few questions in the bag hahaha.. so if you don't need to purchase the high beams anymore.. what happens when you use your high beams and you got the oem high beams so does the color mixes when your low beam is hid 6000K white and our stock oem high beam? does it look good on the outside when both are on? anyone have a pic? thanks..

I'll take a pic in a minute just to make you happy, but think about this: Who is ever going to see your car with the high beams on, other than you when you get out to look at it? Hopefully no one, as you should be turning your high beams off before they ever reach an oncoming cars eyes. It's not like someone at a car show/meet is going to ask to see your high beams. The color mixes a little bit but the HIDs are so bright that you really can't tell. My high beams just illuminate around the road more, and further down the road. Off to take a pictures...in daytime.

 

thanks man.. appreciate it.. i went to the site you recommended, which set do you have?the M.E. hid conversion kit or the Phillips hid kit? what's their difference? kinda get confused bout the "conversion" word on the M.E., are they both compatible for our 06 si? because speaking bout bulbs Phillips sounds more trusted to me considering their years of bulb technology... about to order one hahahh...

I have the M.E. kit. I'm sure Phillips is of better quality but I am very happy with the M.E. kit. I actually never even saw the phillips one listed on their page, I think it's new on there. And, yes the Phillips one is compatible with our cars.

Be ready to adjust them so that they don't blind people. My dealership didn't adjust my lights before I received it, and I had to spend a couple nights getting my lights just right. Now, they provide me with excellent vision and don't blind oncoming motorists. The cutoff isn't even too bad when you level the headlights to each other.

Do you guys realize that a drop in HID kit will look like complete **** and scatter light all over the place because the Si doesn't have the correct projectors for Xenon lights?

Not to crash the party, but HID drop in kits with halogen projectors don't look good at all. I don't know why people keep doing this and think it looks good.

I know you will all react and flame away, but its the truth.

so true, but honestly it's just SO much cheaper than doing a retrofit. now i'm not condoning this type of mod, but some people just can't afford it. personally, i think people should save up and do it right, or don't do it all and that's why i don't have hid it frustrates me so much to not have hid because of expensive retros

 

Well, if you are not a moron, and you adjust your lights correctly HIDs: 1. Don't scatter light all over the place or look like **** 2. Don't blind oncoming drivers 3. Actually have a pretty decent cutoff.

I don't remember who said it so I can't quote them verbatum, but someone once said on here "I've been blinded by far more trucks with halogen bulbs than I've ever been blinded by cars with HIDs and no projector housing". That is the truth. I thought the glare would be terrible too, but after some tweaking, my HIDs are great, and I don't get any high beams from oncoming drivers.

I hate how retro-fits look and my HIDs do fine without them.

*If you were really about "doing it the right way" you wouldn't be telling people to get a retro-fit, because either way it is illegal*

I have to agree, regardless of how they're aimed, they still throw light everywhere and look downright horrid.

 

You've never seen them aimed correctly then.

 

Ive got a plug and play kit and have had 0 flashes from on coming motorists. Ive had them in for about 6 months now. (6k's) Looks great! I say go for it
