88 to 89 clusters use the 88 to 89 gauge pod, the 90 to 91 use the 90 to 91 pod. so swapping out the clusters means that you need a different pod. and the plugs will work. i had a 91 crx si cluster in my hatch, just didnt put the gauge pod over it, now im running a 89 crx si cluster with my stock holder. so yes it will work with the stock plugs but just get the 90 to 91 holder

also, if you are trying to get that exact cluster to work, good luck, you have to wire up the VSS which takes some time and is a butt to do....i suggest just getting a USDM si cluster and then doing the jdm speed gauge swap, meanin you find the guy on ebay who makes them or make your own that reads out in kilometers and not miles.....photoshop would be your best friend here

why don't you just get a 90-91 cluster with tach?

Anyways, when these idiots I went to HS with swapped my 91 LX cluster into their 88 std hatch they had to change the plugs as well as speedo sensor stuff.
