rattling noise from front end over bumps
I have a rattling noise when I go over bumps. It sounds like its coming from the front end drivers side.
I jacked the car up today, and took a look at it. nothing was loose from what i checked.
the boots on the steering rack were both broken, Im not sure if this indicates something. I read in the haynes repair, and it said it may be the steering rack and pinion, but i didnt really want to mess with it because I didnt want to mess up alignment.
any ideas of what it could be.

Once experienced something similar. It was caused by the front engine mount "tapping" the tranny. When the engine was swapped whoever did it didnt remove the front mount they just trimmed it back but not very far, it was just long enough that small engine movement would cause it to tap the tranny.
also the noise seemed to have started after i went over a pretty steep drivway bump, straight on. so is it possible that stupid driveway messed something up and now its rattling? ive checked things that might rattle like exhasut, exhaust shields, etc. no luck. i might end up bringing it to a shop for this one, which i hate to do, but the noise does not sound good at all.
Check the cat if it sounds like its coming from the exhaust area. The element inside of it which is honeycomb like could have partially broke off. You should be able to hear it if you grab the exhaust pipe with both hands near the cat (once its cool!) and shake it around good. If the element is broken apart you should hear it inside the cat. Exhaust noises are a pain in my opinion because the noise can travel through the exhaust system making the source hard to pin point.

Check for movement in the strut rod bushings. If there is excess movement they need to be replaced. My car had a similar issue. The strut rods are the rods that go from the lower control arm to the front crossmember. There are 4 bushings and they're all the same part number. You can get a complete kit fromt autozone for like $10
