what does the y pipe do? just wondering because last night i ran into a dip didnt see it. and my car is real low so i think the y pipe got hit real hard. took the car out this morning for 10 minutes came back and checked under my car and i see fumes coming out from my y pipe. (i think its the y pipe, from the picture it looks about right)

 

What kind of car are you driving? Your "y pipe" is most likely just your downpipe. You can replace it, or just buy an aftermarket header. Look in the marketplace, you can probably find a used one for cheap.

 

91 integra. yeah i think its a downpipe. are there any dangers? like the fumes i see? is this something i should replace ASAP
