Default Is my 90 DA dying?

Well I had a thread going about my battery light, but I think it might have gone farther than just that. So to recap on everything, my cars battery light came on, battery died, everyone told me it was my alternator, I fought with it, got it out, and had it tested, the alternator was fine. So then had the battery charged, and then had it tested, it passed, then failed, then died on the dude when he was testing it. So went out and got a new battery today. Well battery light is still on, so I have no idea whats going on, I checked the grounds and all the fuses, eveything is good. Checked the tension on the alternator belt and it was good. Now I let the car run for about an hour with the battery light on and the car didnt die, although the cars temp gauge was lower than normal. Also, my car kept sounding like it was puttering, or back firing slightly, and its never done that til my battery light came on. So I took it for a drive and it drove like a champ, light never went off until my RPM's hit over 4grand and when they dropped the light came back on, when I got it to the house, the puttering sound was still slightly there. So can any one please help me out on whats going on? This is my only car and I need to get it in working order.

yeah, i'd say replace the alternator too. if your battery light is on, the charging system probably isn't working properly.

Should I go for a rebuild? I was told it could be the brushes, and thats cheaper to replace than the whole alternator.

I noticed that there are two wires going to the the positive on the battery terminal, does the other wire go directly to the alternator then?

If the car isn't dying after driving it for awhile y do u think somethings wrong with it? The alternator wouldn't make the car sputter

The battery dies after awhile, thats why I believe something is wrong with it, Ive already come to terms with the fact I need to change the alternator, just wanting to know if the wire going from the alternator goes to the battery?
