i bought a drop in K&N filter, and it didn't fit properly. i had to trim it down a little bit. anyone know why this is? i looked on In Line Four, and they didn't specify wether it would fit a Dx or Si or what, it just said 92-95 civic.
is the Si and Ex airbox larger than the Dx airbox?

if what side edges are bent? side edges of the filter?
All 92-95' Civic CX-Si, USDM, JDM are all identical. I had no problem fitting mine at all. It just fits in really snug. If the side edges are bent a bit, you might have a problem.

why would it be different though?
Mine fit perfectly. Maybe you got the wrong one? I don't own a G5 Civic, but I think it's different between the Si and DX.
I had an EX, bought the filter from inline four, worked perfectly. One thing I did notice, it looks like it's a perfect square...it's not. It's actually a rectangle, so try rotating it 180 degrees. Maybe that's your problem?

Hmm...do you have pics?
Anyways, the drop in filter doesn't really add any hp...I did a few dyno runs at AEBS' Dynojet 248C. The drop in filter maintains a consistent flow (like a new paper filter) for a longer period of time. So when a paper filter's flow characteristics start to slow down, a drop in filter will still have the same approximate flow. Plus, it's reusable.

u can get more air flow into the air box by drilling qtr. in holes on the bottom..with just 4 little holes uve already open d up the box by 1 sq. in..atleast will eliminate any size restrictions to the filter..the filter will be the only thing offering any kinda intake limitations from hear out.
I'm speculating way out in left field, here, but I don't suppose the stock airbox could warp due to the heat under the hood over time, could it? Perhaps that's why some of them had to be trimmed to fit.(?) I know before I replaced my airbox with a AEM CAI, mine dropped in no prob to the stock airbox.
