Does anyone have any suggestions specifically on where to buy a used 2003 accord engine (j30a4) 3.0 6cyl. Can someone give me a read on what compression readings each cylinder should have to be good? Someone left or put some metal objects into the air filter and they got sucked into the engine. Therefore the engine got fried. I have gotten quotes of $1,200 to $1,500 for some with mileages in the 20,00-65,000 range. I don't know who to trust and who not to trust when buying it. Honda dealer will be installing the engine. I just want it to run smoothly and for a long time.

That price sounds reasonable. Can't recall the compression specs for that engine off the top of my head. Just make sure you buy the engine from a reputable dismantler. Preferably one that offers a warranty.
