Default ABS what should I do?

Ok, So i've read over the ABS threads and just looking for thoughts..

Heres my problem, over the passed few months every once in awhile when I get in the car the abs light would stay on after startup. Just a simple turn off of the car and back and and the lights gone. At the time I didn't think much of it, maybe a dirty wheel sensor or something. I didn't check the code or actually lock them up to see if abs still worked.

Fast forward I did a track event last week and the ABS is not working, Not a huge deal actually I didn't even really notice it until I caught a glimps of one of the rears smoking.

So I checked the code today, and damn im not sure whats even really going on.

This is what flashes, 2 sec on, then 2 sec off, 2 sec on, 2 sec off (From what I've read this is normal startup lights.) After this part I get 7 Shorts lights then a 5 second pause, then 8 long and 1 short. Then it cycles back to the 7 shorts. etc.

So I am I actually throwing code 81? I couldn't find anything that was 70? So Im just not sure what code I'm throwing. If its too severe of a problem I might just remove the abs all together.

Any thoughts ideas or suggestions would be apperciated.

That is code 17 and code 81 it sounds like. The second long on is actually the ones digit I think as the helms says the light should only come on for 2 seconds once before cycling through the codes.

17 is a wheel sensor code, pretty easy to replace that.

81 indicates a problem with the ABS computer, which can be replaced pretty easily when you find one.

No need to remove the system. Just leave it disengaged if you don't want to use it.

The 17 could somehow be making them both come up, possibly.. I would clean the sensor, reset the indicator and see what comes back after driving it around a bit.

I've had this same problem over the last few months. ABS light comes on very inconsistently. Although I never pulled a code, I did clean my sensors with brake cleaner (they were pretty dirty) and it seems to have worked. Once when my ABS light came on and stayed on, I did check the brakes and the ABS was not working.
