Default 92 gs-r

it has 160k on it and im thinking about buying it.
my only problem is. what kinna mileage do b17's clock before i have to start replacing engine internals.
i hear b16's only go to about 110k before wear starts taking a toll.

i have a 90 ls with a stock b18a1 and i couldnt be more happy with it... but i recently hit 200k miles... i deliver pizza with it.

i guess im just asking what kinna mileage can you put on dohc vtec motors?

only reason im asking this is because i dont have a lot of $ and i like cars to last.... and i want a db2 lol

It all depends on how it was taken care of. If the oil was not changed on time, and parts were replaced using cheap ebay parts I would not expect the car to get too many more miles.

However before I bought my car, it was boosted over 220 HP on the stock engine. It had around 140,000 miles on it. When I tore the engine down to have it built for my current set up, everything was in top shape. Even the stock HG was looking good.

Just verify that the timing belt is good (180K interval is coming up), and oil has been changed regularly.

My B18C1 has almost 270K miles on all original internals and tranny and it's still running great. Do B16's really start to crap out at 110K? That's just crazy.

The ones that have had the **** beaten out of them do. Same situation applies to every Honda motor I suppose.

Exactly... The reason why more Dohc Vtec engines go out sooner is because tipically people that have them drive them hard... It has really nothing to do with the engine itself, because its a Honda, and when treated good enough can last hundreds and hundreds of thousands of miles. You need to look at who you're buying it from, If its from an Old lady one owner ( like mine ) Its probably got ALOT of life left. If your buying it modded and from a younger male, its probably been molested and is getting tired.
