2000 Accord air conditioning broken
My climate control suddenly stopped working today (2000 Accord EX). It was fine last night. The only thing I'm able to adjust is the amount of air blowing- I can't change where the air is blowing (face, feet, defrost, etc) or have it recycle the air instead of pulling it in from outside, and only one temp of air comes out (very very warm) no matter what. None of the orange lights under any of the buttons on the climate control panel will come on either when I push them. Does this sound like a fuse issue or like something more serious (i.e. expensive)? If it's a fuse, where do I find it? Any other suggestions of easy things to check?
Edit: I took it in to Firestone yesterday to get looked at, and their recommendation after running all their diagnostics was to replace the entire AC control unit for $450. Is there anything else I should have it checked for before I commit to this?

It's possible a few things happened
1) Sprung a leak and lost freon
2) Freon expanded and blew the safety valve (what happened to me)
3) Compressor crapped out
Depending on how comfortable you are with troubleshooting, you could take it to a dealer and get an estimate on the repairs (ie a diagnostic) and then just buy the parts yourself and replace as needed.
The other option would be to check out some stuff yourself.
You'll need to list the Year/Make/Model/Trim though as there's several in your generation Accord.

Just a quick update in case anybody else has the same problem:
The problem was indeed the Heater/ AC control unit. I bought one at the auto salvage yard for less than $40. It was easy to install myself- it took less than 20 min to put in (I followed the instructions in the Haynes manual for removing the center dash), and I have no car repair experience. Problem solved- it works just like it did before.

Good you got it fixed. It definately was not anything to do with the A/C system or Heater itself. I'd never pay that much for a shop to do that job. As you learned, $40 at the salvage yard a few cold ones and a little time and your set.

well that says a lot for that shop just think if you had paid them 450.00 and then the call after the tech screwed up. Uh Mr Rubbernecker i have to inform you that the repairs we made did nothing to fix your car so we will need to also replace the ac/control unit.

Hi piper,
i had the same problem occur about a month ago. blows air, but have no controls. dealership said they could fix it for about $430. Did you just replace the dash panel? I found one on ebay for $70. would you mind taking a look and letting me know if this is all you replaced. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
