Default Wheelies

So I know most here don't really like to talk about "stunting", but who remembers the first time they did one?

I just literally with in the last hour did my first one, and is was an unreal feeling. Just feeling the front lift up was awesome and terrifying at the same time. Got it up about a foot and a half or so. On the way back to my house, up the last long stretch of road I got it up about 2 feet and landed hard and smashed my nuts. Didn't feel too great but was the highest yet.

If you got a story, share it, otherwise...

I can't remember the very 1st wheelie I did, since it was probably on a dirt bike when I was 8.

I have no problem with wheelies, stunting and other acts of motorcycling so long as they are performed in the proper environment and the rider enjoys that style of riding. The 1st wheelie on my 600rr came unexpectedly while getting on the freeway... I felt the front end get light and then next thing I knew it was up in the air.

I haven't been able to get mine to power wheelie, but I read that the clutch style, while more jerky, is a little safer and less chance of rolling over.

I have heard the same thing about clutching vs. power wheelies. Clutching a wheelie gives you more control over it and allows you to get up to the balance point at a lower RPM and road speed. I clutch wheelies on my dirt bike to lift the front tire over obstacles, or to setup for upcoming terrain.

On the street I just don't find a need to do balance point wheelies, but I will admit that the front comes up rather easily in 1st gear with a slight tug on the bars.

The Superhawk would lift its front wheel off the ground given a little prodding. I could never get the front of my F3 to lift.

yeah the first one on the street bike was pretty awesome. knowing you can pick the front up so easy is real fun. I dont really go for the balance point much, if im goin on to the freeway or somethin' ill pick it up in first and when it starts to drop nail it into second and carry it a bit further. I can't really do them with the clutch but i've only tried a couple times, seems more fun just usin' the powerband

Yeah, but the clutched one feels so exhilarating. It's sudden and fun.

I don't remember the first but what really sticks in my mind was riding my dad's CR500 when I was younger. I could sit on the tank and that thing would still wheelie in every gear just rolling on the throttle.

lol I was on the 250 ninja, some reason it wouldn't go in to first when the light turned green, I reved it up and let out the clutch. That was prob the worst wheelie in the world

i was teasing my roomate once that was trying to wheelie beside me. i was just kind of flicking the throttle in 1st mocking him so my bike would jerk like his r1 and my bike popped straight up unexpectedly. i panicked and ripped the throttle back more, i had to throw my chest on the tank in fear of looping it..

The easier ones are when you just rip the throttle at the right RPM, but I have a RC51 with tons of tourqe so picking the wheel off the ground is kinda hard NOT to do just normal riding. lol But with that bike its easy to do a power wheelie and the clutch wheelies are easy to do at more moderate speeds.

The first one I did was not to long after I got the RC51 and the first one was just enough to get the tire off the ground..then slowly worked my way up. Next thing I know I was riding a wheelie with having to look around the front tire.

Not a lot to it but can be if you get the front tire up really quick..lol

wheelies in general are not hard to do... Hence every **** in the world is doing them down the interstate, it takes no talent what so ever

best wheelies are when you open too much throttle out of a turn and passing someone with all that corner exit speed <3

Or the ones where you have to chop the throttle just before its to late when your coming into a corner... front end all squarely as you lay it over for the corner entry

First time for me I was on my 600RR chasing a friend on the on-ramp. Gave it so much gas the front end came up slightly.

I'm too chicken to do it now. Doesn't really excite me that much, too risky for me. But I love watching people do stunts though.

<3 doing wheelies. I miss my 636 when I think of long standup balance point wheelies. The 10r is twitchy (-1,+2... with a 1/5 turn throttle) Rear brake control becomes a must. Im not a big fan of them on the 10r... HOWEVER... I can ride sitdowns for a long ways on the 10r, and it lifts the wheels in 1st-4th with a little clutch play (I hate the "chop throttle" power wheelies)

Power wheelies suck IMO. First gear wheelies are easy but i wouldnt recommend to beginners/morons. Shifting from 1st to 2nd i dunno about that people do it but to me thats just asking to loop it but to each his own

Im pretty into 2nd gear stand ups slip the clutch at 30-35mph and let the good times roll

my first wheelie was a total accident lol
i came over a crest on a back road wide open in 2nd gear on my 916, front didn't come back down lol
front just kinda hung there as i kept on it.
little rear brake brought the nose down and i contiuned on my merry way

I love the ones where your accelerating and the front wheel just kinda hits a bump on the road and then floats happily a foot above the ground.

Reading how you felt the unexplainable feeling is a sign of bad luck....

Little bit turns to too often...and ends up....
