B16a in a 90 dx, the Temp gauge no longer workin?
I got a 90 dx that had a b16a in but none of the wiring was done, the plug on the right side shock tower was totally different so i re-wired a dx harness, so the enegine starts, and it runs pretty strong no misses no stumbles or anything but the temp sensor no longer reads the engine temp. it is weird as hell, but if I dissconnect the plug from the head the ecu gives a code 6 on the ecu, coolant temp sensor. Help me out please, thanks.
ur coolatn temperature sensor might be shot
u might wanna get a new one
but before u do , make sure theres no cuts, or missing conectors, os anyhting loose....
and u might wanna check the sensor before u replace it .
-To check the sensor, check the resistance value of the coolant temp sensor..while its cold....ti should be anything between 2,200 to 2,700 ohms.... Next start ur engine and warm it up until its hot.... now check thge resistance and it should be lower, anywhere from 280-350 ohms..... if ur readings are good, then ur sensor its ok and then u got a problem anywhere in between the ECU and the sensor.. check for bad conectors, loos pins, cuts, pinches, all that kinda stuff...
hope it helps
