Default gsr or ls/v

i have a choice between a gsr engine or and ls/v set up on my 95 ls.. would i get more power out of gettin the whole gsr engine? or a gsr head on my 95 ls.. all i have is bolt on mods to my ls and i keep up with gsr's and even beat one before (yea i was highly suprised im probably just a good driver cuz i raced the guy 3 times) never mind that ..so gsr engine or gsr head?? i already got a 99 gsr tranny????

The gsr motor is going to drop right in real easy but probably not produce as much power. The LSV will probably require a little more work and money but will be worth it in the end. Make sure you get it tunned and get a golden eagle lsv kit or something similar.

just do the gsr swap, more reliable, good hp delivery, and easily smogable.

imo youre better off dropping the gsr in and boosting it. it will take much more time money and effort to build a lsv properly, and by the time youre done only then you could think about boost. who knows what could happen between now and then in terms of those 3 factors i just named. and since you want to build, i think you should have gotten either a b16 or type r tranny, in my opinion.

ok ill have to think bout it.. i kno the b16 has shorter gears.. but how else is it better than the gsr tranny? im planin on just gettin the gsr swap and just building my ls block... only reason is because i plan on usin the gsr as my daily beater and i want somethin on the side.. and im gettin the engine for a very low price so its worth it.. thanks for the help!!!!

the ls/v will make more power but mostly more torque. just remember that the ls bottom end isnt built to turn the rpm's that a stock gsr is, just look at the factory redlines in comparisson with each other.

If your going to go ls/v make sure you pay a visit to golden eagle mfg. They have the most complete kit you would need. Actually if i remember correctly they make it soo easy there isnt even machine work involved anymore. Also remember the rod bolts in the ls rods arent as heavy duty as those in the vtec motors which is the weakspot in most of those builds, oh yea dont forget to pay ACL a visit as well

Good luck,
Ron

GSR for reliability, well depends on who is building the LS/V.

screaming deal on the GSR. if you really wanted to get nutty with the build and have it hold togeather for awhile; just find a dart block. far better than any OE casting
