well when i idle my oil light flickers. but i check the car and it has plenty of oil. idk but i think it could be my oil pump.

and now all the sudden my car will throw a check code when i step on it and my vtec wont engage anymore. until i restart the car. then its fine again. until the next time i step on it.

 

the oil pump could be a possibility. could also be main/rod bearings.

 

might be an oil pump, you need to hook a gauge up to it and check it before it ruins your head and cam.

 

As stated above probably the oil pump, but it could also be the sending unit.

 

its not the oil pump. i just started having a [freak]ing rod knock.

 

low oil pressure for awhile will destroy bearings. the oil pump could have started the issue.. the bearings could be a result of the low pressure for awhile..

Not so fast there, you may have rod knock, but thats the result of a bad oil pump most likely.

 

wait wait.. your oil light was flickering and yet you tried to engage vtec??? wow..

 

If there is low oil pressure at the VTEC solenoid, there will be a CEL for that.

 

maybe he's trying to blow it up..
i'd recommend a rebuild now..
or a swap..

 

i just blew up the motor yestrday. im swaping a D16z6 to a B18C3 (GSR). or if i can afford it, a B18C5!!!
